Below you will find a list of lessons the Port of Baltimore is able to offer to your classroom. Our educators will work with you to create a lesson plan and schedule that will fit your students' needs.

Get a close up look at our Terrapin ambassadors! These little turtles come from Poplar Island and will visit classrooms from Mid- October to June. These turtles will visit classrooms, or events and are sure to be the stars of the show! 

Design a Diamondback

In this lesson, students will learn about turtle adaptations as they “design” a diamondback terrapin using a volunteer as a life-sized model.

Learn about the unique animals that live in the Cheapake Bay by playing with a large parasute.

Students will use project-based group learning to examine the history of Poplar Island from a thriving small community to a vanishing habitat to the successful ecological restoration project you see today. They will work in groups to create posters.
