Design a Diamondback

Lesson Plan:

One student volunteer will be chosen to transform into a Diamondback terrapin. Students will learn the unique adaptions of the turtles as new parts of the costume are added to the student. These adaptations include Shell, Beak, Camouflage, Webbed feet, lungs and scutes. Students will learn how the turtles use their adaptations to survive in their wetland habitats.


Scheduling Design-a Diamondback


Educators will visit each classroom individually, for a maximum of 8 lessons a day.

This lesson can be taught in two classrooms simultaneously, but cannot exceed 3 back-to-back simultaneous lessons.

What to know: 

  • This lesson can be done at the same time in two rooms.

  • This lesson does not use any technology and can be done in most spaces or outside.
