Lesson Plan:

In this game, large foam game tiles will be placed in a line or circle around the room or outside. The more space available, the more students will have to move around or run. Students will learn about the life cycle of the terrapin as they move around to each game tile. They must read the action on the piece and complete it to move on. This could include doing anything from jumping up and down to hiding from hungry birds. Each step of the way, students will learn what challenges the turtles face on their way to nesting sites.…

What to know:

  • This lesson requires a lot of space. A long hallway, gym or outside works best.

  • Younger students or students who struggle to read independently may need to be paired with a partner or adult.

  • This game is printed on foam tiles; in the event of strong winds, this lesson may need to be moved indoors.
